About museum
The museum is the face of any settlement: it collects, preserves, and presents the history, traditions, and cultural heritage of the region. Everything depends on the attitude of local residents toward the history and the future of their homeland, as well as on what they wish to pass on to their descendants. In honor of the 50th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the museum was opened to visitors on May 7, 1995. Veterans of the 47th Nevel Rifle Division attended the opening. The museum includes the sections "Archaeology", "Historical-Ethnographic", "Revolution and the Great Patriotic War in the Usvyatsky District", "History of the Museum's Creation", and an exhibition hall. The first tours of the museum were conducted by Kostroma Gennady Afanasyevich and Zhiznevsky Vasily Georgievich — teachers and local historians of the Usvyatsky district.
