Department of History and Local Lore of the Kursk Municipal District
About museum
In 1975, at the initiative of the district Veterans' Council, a 'Battle Glory' room was established on Mozdokskaya Street (now the Military Commissariat). Around Lyashenko P. K., Suralev V. I., Zdorenko K. K., and Karginov I. T., research into the history of the Great Patriotic War began. Three years later, on October 3, 2015, the Department of History and Local Lore of the Kursk Municipal District of Stavropol Krai was opened, consisting of three halls: the Hall of the Terek Cossacks, the Hall of the History of the Kursk District, and the Hall of the District's Development in the Soviet period. The department's collection includes more than 8,000 exhibits, including archaeological items, ethnographic exhibits, documents, numismatic collections, and works of visual art, as well as military-historical collections.
