Temnikov Historical and Local History Museum named after F.F. Ushakov
About museum
In 1966 local historian P. P. Smirnov organized the museum on a voluntary basis, and after the adoption of the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the Mordovian ASSR on September 18, 1968, it received the name 'Historical and Local History Museum named after F. F. Ushakov'. It is located in a building constructed in 1809 that served as a hospital during the Patriotic War of 1812, financed by Admiral F. F. Ushakov and priest A. Ivanov. The museum now has 8 halls and holds more than 7,000 exhibits, and the largest hall is dedicated to Admiral of the Russian Fleet F. F. Ushakov. It contains more than one thousand exhibits that tell about the creation of the Black Sea Fleet and the military operations led by the great naval commander.
