Nyuksensky District Local History Museum
About museum
On November 6, 1977 the museum in Nyuksensky District was established; its initiators were the district committee of the CPSU, the Department of Culture, the school and the Veterans' Council. The museum displays unique material on the history of the native land, as well as photographs collected from reliable sources. On the second floor visitors can view the photo exhibition 'Krasny Bor: Yesterday and Today' and the peasant life room, which exhibits household items and tools, everyday objects, paintings and examples of traditional weaving. In the Hall of Glory one can learn about the life of the population before and during the war, while children are drawn to the Nature Hall, which presents dioramas depicting the four seasons, the Sukhona River and its inhabitants. The 'Nyuksenitsa. 20th Century' hall is presented in two exhibitions: about the district's main enterprise and about school years. The museum holds events for all segments of the population, allowing people to enjoy the history of their homeland and discover its beautiful places.
