About museum
The V. V. Dokuchaev Local History Museum is not only a place for preserving the people's cultural heritage but also an effective way of presenting it to local residents and visitors from other regions. It is a recognized landmark of the district. The museum's exhibitions feature a variety of, sometimes unique, items and documents that provide insight into the lives of many generations. They will interest people of all ages and professions. The museum opened on September 23, 1982, and since 1995 has been housed in a building specially constructed for it. The collections contain more than 1,700 exhibits that allow the study of the political, economic, and cultural history of the district from the mid-19th century to the present day. Also on display are clothing and household items from noble and peasant life, furniture, paintings, garments, coins and banknotes, books, and personal belongings of notable local residents. The museum also organizes scientific-practical local history conferences and thematic exhibitions. For children, museum staff offer interactive and educational tours.
