Spassky District Museum of Folk Art

About museum

Since 1967, a local history shop-museum of the Spassky District's folk art has been operating in Secondary School No. 1 of the town of Spassk. In 2007 it acquired legal entity status. In 2013 the museum completely renewed its exhibits, opening three new halls, including 'Abashevo Ceramics'. More than 600 of the best examples of Abashevo craft are collected here, including works by the folk clay toy master and ceramic artist Timofey Zotkin, which are kept not only in the Spassk museum but also in other museums. The exhibition of Abashevo toys attracts great interest among visitors; therefore the museum conducts tours and offers master classes in modeling Abashevo clay toys.
