I.M. Demenin Museum of Military and Labor Glory
About museum
On May 9, 1985, the Ilya Mikhailovich Demenin Museum of Military and Labor Glory was opened in the village of Parabel. It was founded at the initiative of a veteran of the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). The collection of materials for the museum began long before its official opening: work was carried out with war participants, and their memoirs, documents, photographs, and wartime items were gathered. In 1999, after the death of its founder, the museum was named after him. In 2010 the museum received an independently restored building in the historic center of the village. It presents themes such as 'Participants of the Great Patriotic War', 'Home Front Workers', 'The Modern Army', 'Local Conflicts', the search detachment 'Dolg', as well as victims of political repressions of the 1930s–1950s. The museum's opening was organized to mark the 40th anniversary of the Soviet people's Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and on the eve of the 65th anniversary of Victory a presentation was held in the renovated building.
