On May 8, 2010, the Tambov Region Museum and Exhibition Center was opened in Tambov with its first exhibition, "In Glory of the Motherland", dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory. This exhibition presents the history of the war, including combat operations, examples of courage and bravery of thousands of our compatriots, and more than 3,500 exhibits — unique frontline relics, works of battle painting and sculpture, weapons and combat awards of front-line soldiers, their personal belongings and documents, and guards' banners. Also on display are materials devoted to the formation in the Tambov region of the 2nd Guards Army, airfields, a large hospital base, defense industry enterprises, and the work of labor collectives, factories, collective farms, universities, schools, hospitals, workers, peasants, and the intelligentsia. The museum exhibition shows the greatness of the military and labor feats and the patriotic initiatives of the residents of the Tambov region.
