Nakhodka Museum and Exhibition Center

About museum

In 1977 the City Executive Committee of Nakhodka decided to open a history museum. For this purpose a building in the "old" city centre was chosen, where the creation of a unified cultural complex was planned. By the end of 1979–early 1980 the museum was equipped with everything necessary and opened on November 4, 1980. In 1991 the museum was renamed the Nakhodka Museum and Exhibition Center. Currently the Nakhodka MEC presents a rich collection composed of 19 collections, including books, documents, metal, textiles, glass, wood, negatives and a sound archive, as well as modern exhibition spaces and an area for planning the city's future. Since 2018 the museum has had a permanent historical exhibition "A City Called Nakhodka", which features materials from Russian and Japanese archives and museums. The museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions that attract numerous visitors.
