About museum

Korostyn Village museum and cultural center, housed in the federally protected heritage building the Putevoy Palace (1826–1828), was restored with support from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the Government of the Novgorod Region. Here visitors can learn about the history of the village of Korostyn, about the construction of the Assumption Church and the Putevoy Palace, and become acquainted with the Ilmen clay escarpment and Lake Ilmen. Photographs by Natalia Kamaykina, Marina Yashina, Mark Nazarov and Lyubov Pavlova allow you to see the Putevoy Palace before and after restoration and to admire views of Korostyn in different seasons. The center's exhibition space features works by People's Artist of Russia Dmitry Zhuravlev and Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Varentsov, as well as a series of works by Nikolai Lokotkov dedicated to Korostyn.
