Railway District Museum
About museum
\r\nThe Novosibirsk Railway District Museum is the city's oldest museum. Its history begins in the 1970s, when it was located on Sovetskaya Street on the first floor of building No. 65. In the late 1990s the museum was closed and items from its collections were to be thrown out by the new owners. But thanks to the efforts of the staff, much of it was preserved and the items were transferred to the collections of the Novosibirsk Local History Museum. In 2004 the museum was given a second life — it was allocated a small space on the ground floor of a long nine-story building known as "Kishka", at 3 Vokzalnaya Magistral. Despite the small space, the museum houses unique items from the late 19th — early 20th centuries that help to understand how locals lived in the past.
