I.S. Turgenev Museum-Reserve 'Spasskoye-Lutovinovo'

Spasskoye-Lutovinovo is a state memorial and natural museum-reserve located in the Oryol Region. It was established in 1922 in honor of Ivan Turgenev, the great Russian writer. The estate was originally built as early as the 16th century by Ivan the Terrible for Ivan Lutovinov. The grounds include a two-story house, a stone gallery, a kitchen, a banya (bathhouse), a livestock yard, a poultry yard, a smithy, a carpentry wing, a mill, a hospital, a police wing, a laboratory and flower gardens. The museum presents architectural monuments, natural and cultural landscapes, and works of art. Visitors can see the house-museum, the Church of the Transfiguration and the family crypt of I.S. Turgenev, as well as exhibits on the life and work of the great writer. The museum's creation was made possible by a decree of the Department of Museums and the Protection of Art and Antiquities.
