A unique private Museum of Jewelry Art has opened in Kostroma, located in an architectural monument from the late 18th century at 7 Sovetskaya Street. It is dedicated to the history of the Kostroma jewelry craft from its origins to the present and is divided into four parts: "Merchant's Shop", recreating the interiors and assortment of a shop at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries; "Artisan's Workshop", which displays hand tools and various devices of the artisan jeweler; "20th Century Jewelry Art", with original works by well-known and lesser-known Kostroma jewelers and mass-produced items made of filigree and finift (Russian cloisonné enamel); and the "Contemporary Jewelry Art Hall." Photographs and copies of documents from various historical periods are presented for visitors. The museum welcomes individual visitors and organized tourist groups of all ages.
