On April 29, 2018, the Museum of the Family of Emperor Nicholas II was opened in Tobolsk. It is located in the memorial building of the Governor's House associated with Nicholas II's stay in Tobolsk from 1917 to 1918. A great deal of work was done to turn the building into a museum: restoration, repairs, and landscaping of the grounds. The museum presents a unique collection of items consisting of property that belonged to the imperial family and products supplied by purveyors to the imperial court. The creation of the museum was carried out with the support of the Government of the Tyumen Region and the Fund for the Promotion of the Revival of Traditions of Mercy and Charity, the 'Elisavetinsko-Sergievskoye Educational Society'. The installation of permanent exhibition complexes, interior decoration, and the preparation of printed and souvenir products were carried out under the patronage of the Chair of the Fund's Supervisory Board, A. V. Gromova. The museum offers a new perspective on the history of the imperial family and its activities in both public and private life.
