A. P. Chekhov Museum of Letters
About museum
The connection of Lopasnya with the name of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov is due to the fact that at the initiative of the local intelligentsia and with the active participation of the writer, in 1893 signatures and voluntary donations were collected to establish post and telegraph services. On January 2, 1896 the post office was officially opened, and from October 1 of the same year the telegraph began operating here. In the A. P. Chekhov Museum of Letters you can see the interior of a 19th-century post office, as well as many memorial items: letter-weighing scales, a paperweight, Morse and Bell apparatuses, postal stamps, etc.
