About museum

In popular parlance, Serpantinka was known as the place where mass executions of prisoners took place in the late 1930s. The site was located in a remote hollow of the village of Khatynnakh, between hills, one and a half kilometers from the former center of the Northern Mining and Industrial Administration. An unpaved road ran through the area along which the Serpantin Pass lay. A few meters from it stood a prison barrack where those sentenced to death were kept.
