P. S. Nakhimov Museum
About museum
The P. S. Nakhimov Museum was opened on July 5, 2002, on the 200th anniversary of the admiral’s birth. On the first floor visitors can see documents and materials related to the Nakhimov family. The second floor houses valuable exhibits: a model of the frigate Pallada, nautical instruments, orders (decorations), a replica of P. S. Nakhimov’s cap and his notebook. On the museum grounds there are memorial sites: the village of Gorodok, where P. S. Nakhimov was born, and the Spas-Volzhinsky pogost where he was baptized. A monument has also been erected at the grave of Nakhimov’s mother. The museum hosts maritime-themed events, as well as an annual Nakhimov celebration and ship-modeling competitions.
