Permian Antiquities Museum
About museum
In the depths of Perm Krai lies an amazing chronicle that gave its name to a period of life on Earth lasting 50 million years — the 'Permian period', 'Perm'. At that time all continents were joined into the single supercontinent Pangea, and gold and diamonds formed in the depths of the planet. The ancient Permian sea left a rich layer of salt, gypsum and selenite. The Museum of Permian Antiquities is a journey into Earth's past, to the times of mysterious plants and unseen animals. Here you can see a fossil grasshopper with the world's longest antennae, Estemmenosuchus, Volkonskoit, the 'Permian mammoth', the emerald-green garnet uvarovite, Permian reptiles and the Okhansk meteorite. Various events are also held here: the 'Museosaur Workshop', 'Night Tales of the Mammoth', 'Paleontological Expedition', 'People Draw a Mammoth', the Museum lecture series, and a children's paleontological conference. All this will provide unforgettable impressions and insights.
