The Museum of the Defense of Sevastopol is an incredible place that brings together six museum sites, exhibitions and monuments located across many parts of the city. It was established in 1960 and houses the panorama "Defense of Sevastopol 1854-1855" and the diorama "Assault on Sapun Mountain on May 7, 1944". In addition, the museum includes the Defensive Tower of Malakhov Kurgan, the House-Museum of Sevastopol underground resistance fighters (1942-1944), and Saint Vladimir Cathedral - the tomb of the celebrated admirals of the Russian Navy. This museum is the only place in the city where one can study the history of Sevastopol from 1783 to the present day. It contains nearly 205,000 items in its collection. Guests and participants of various events and historical education programs meet at the museum.
