MKhAT Museum
About museum
The MKhAT Museum was founded in 1923 and was initially located in the Art Theatre passage. In 1947 the museum received its own building at number 3a. It is a historical and cultural-educational institution of national significance that collects, preserves, studies and promotes materials and documents related to the history and contemporary life of MKhAT and its figures. It houses an unparalleled number of documentary holdings, theatrical costumes and models, theatrical paintings, graphics and sculptures, memorial objects and theatrical relics. The directorate, research departments and a reading room are located on the fourth floor. The exhibition is on the second floor of the theatre building and is accessible via the entrance to the Small Stage. The museum is open to people with visual and hearing impairments (with a sign-language interpreter available). Lectures and guided tours are offered for them.
