It became an example for subsequent generations and a reminder of the significance and importance of railway infrastructure for the country's development.
On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Great October it was decided to build a monument to the communists — the Irkutsk‑Sortirovochnoye depot. It all began in 1898, when the Inokentyevskoye locomotive depot was established, and the first head of the railway services was engineer V. I. Polyakov. This depot became a predecessor of the Leninsky district, and its emergence is connected with the construction of the Siberian State Railway at the end of the 19th century. The railway workers of that earlier period did a great deal of work in constructing the depot. And in honor of the 50th anniversary of the Great October a monument in the form of the Irkutsk - Sortirov.
