Museum of the History of Theaters of Dagestan
About museum
The Museum of the History of Theaters of Dagestan is located in the building of the Dagestan State Drama Theater named after M. Gorky. It comprises twelve exhibitions devoted to Dagestani theaters. The sketch design was prepared by the famous artist, designer, and set decorator of more than ten museums in Dagestan, Gamzat Guseinov. The exhibition provides information about the founders of theatrical art in Dagestan, the first directors, playwrights, actors, and artists. The museum's collections include posters, sketches of sets and costumes for performances. Particular attention is drawn to the models of the plays "Shamil" by Kaziev and "The Shore" by Bondarev, as well as the stage costume of a hussar from Gladkov's play "Long Ago." The museum also houses rare costumes from the 1930s, props for Saidov's play "The Tinkers," and a white grand piano — a gift from the composer's family to the theater museum.
