The Institute of Experimental Medicine (NIIEM SZO RAMN) is the oldest research institute in Russia in the fields of medicine and biology. It was founded by Prince Oldenburg in 1890 in Saint Petersburg. The Museum of the History of the Institute of Experimental Medicine was opened in 1989. The museum displays materials on the history of the Institute from its founding to the present day. The museum's exhibition consists of relics, works of art, personal instruments, devices and models, documents, photographs, diplomas and awards. The museum also features two interactive exhibits, a traveling exhibition and permanent displays in the memorial rooms. All this allows visitors to truly immerse themselves in the institute's history.
