Museum of History, Science and Technology of the Sverdlovsk Railway
About museum
The technical section features steam locomotives, rolling stock and other wagons, and various technical devices.
The Railway Museum is located in the historic building at Yekaterinburg-Passazhirsky station, next to the operational terminal. It was built by the architect Pyotr Schreiber in 1878 and has remained unchanged to this day. The museum's exhibits tell the story of the Ural Railway and railway professions. On the square in front of the entrance you can see sculptures of a stationmaster, track workers, a female conductor holding a glass of tea, a barrier gate, rails, a trackmen's trolley and a semaphore. Inside, the museum is divided into two thematic sections: historical and technical. The historical section tells the story of the Gornozavodskaya Railway, the first railway in the Urals, while the technical section is represented by steam locomotives, rolling stock and other wagons, and various technical devices. The museum is a source of pride for Yekaterinburg residents and is depicted in one of the city's earliest photographs from the late 1880s.
