Museum of the History of the Town of Zaozerny
About museum
On May 9, 1995, a public museum was opened in Zaozerny. Its first organizer and custodian was Maria Ivanovna Shestova, a veteran educator, local historian and honorary citizen of the town. All collections she had gathered were donated to the museum. In 2001 it acquired the status of a legal entity and received a certificate of state registration. In 2008 the museum became a municipal budgetary cultural institution. Today its collections include more than 4,800 exhibits — objects, photographs and documents donated by residents of the town and district. The museum features permanent and temporary thematic exhibitions dedicated to the town's history in various periods of its development. It also hosts exhibitions from its own collection, guest exhibitions and displays from the private collections of Zaozerny residents.
