Nikolaev Museum was opened in 1980 and is located in the mansion of merchant Nikolaev, declared a cultural heritage site of the republic. It features exhibitions on the history of Yelabuga and Russia, a small live-animal corner, exhibitions in garages, and a merchant-style photo zone. The museum has six halls containing various thematic exhibitions: archaeology, ethnography, geology, nature, and the history of the region's development. There are also a nature and archaeology hall, an exhibition on the history of Russia, a portrait gallery of historical figures, an electronic model of the protected Yelabuga, and halls dedicated to postal service and Soviet everyday life. The museum is equipped with everything necessary to welcome visitors of any age and with varying levels of prior knowledge.
