Chistopol City History Museum
About museum
The City History Museum was opened in 1921 and is a structural subdivision of the Chistopol State Museum-Reserve. It is located in the old merchant mansion of the Poduruev family and features halls of archaeology, paleontology, natural history, ethnography and the history of the county town. The interiors of a merchant's living room and study have been recreated in the house, where original pieces of furniture and household items are displayed. The most valuable items in the collection are two wooden bicycles made in the early 20th century by local craftsman Ivan Melnikov. Today the City History Museum attracts many visitors who can view numerous interesting exhibits and learn much about the town's history.
