Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia
About museum
Since 2005 the Fund for the Support of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Heroes of the Russian Federation named after General E. N. Kocheshkov has cooperated with the staff of the Borodino Battle Panorama Museum, which carries out active work in historical education and patriotic upbringing. As a result of this cooperation, in 2007 the Museum of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, part of the Borodino Battle Panorama Museum, was opened. The museum displays memorial complexes related to Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Russia and Heroes of Socialist Labour — titles that were instituted in 1934 and remain to this day. Over the past five years the museum’s collection has grown by 2,900 items. The exhibition features personal belongings of Heroes of the Soviet Union and Russia, including Colonel N. S. Maydanov and Guards Colonel A. V. Lebed. The museum also exhibits combat awards, valuable gifts, military relics, personal items, documents and photographs from family archives donated to the museum by the heroes or their relatives.
