Museum of Documentary Cinema
About museum
The Novosibirsk Museum of Film Chronicles emerged thanks to the material, film-archive and intangible cultural continuity of the Novosibirsk Film Chronicle Studio and the city's professional cinematographic community. It displays objects of 20th-century film production as well as items from the modern digital film-shooting process. Here you can find rare cameras such as "Rodina", "Konvas", "Kinor", the unique "Moviola"—on which image and sound were edited in Siberia in the 1950s—a sound-engineering desk from the 1970s, and a film projector on which you can watch celluloid films. In this museum visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a film studio and experience the full depth of Novosibirsk's cinematic culture, which has played and continues to play an integral role in the life of the city. Special importance is given to the digitized collection of the newsreel "Siberia on Screen", produced at the Novosibirsk Film Chronicle Studio for ninety years.
