Grandpa's Attic Museum
About museum
“Grandpa's Attic” was founded in 2019 as a polytechnic museum for children and adults, where almost all exhibits can be touched, switched on, wound up, etc.
\r\n
\r\nThe museum's sections contain several themed collections: household appliances (washing machines and dishwashers, irons, a cross-section of a toilet), audio recording equipment and radio (gramophones, phonographs, radiolas, tape recorders from various years), means of communication (telephones, telegraphs, speaking tubes, etc.), the railway (model railways, interactive layouts, pieces of railway paraphernalia and documents), photographic equipment, clocks, scales and trade equipment. In total — more than a thousand exhibits. The oldest exhibit is a large set of commercial scales dating from 1846.
\r\n
\r\nA separate large exhibition — “Space Attic” — is dedicated to space exploration; it was officially opened for Cosmonautics Day on April 11, 2022. Rocket engines, parts of spacecraft, documents and much more are on display.
\r\n
\r\nYoung and adult visitors alike can expect an engaging account of the emergence of various technical devices, fascinating stories about little-known facts from the lives of inventors and scientists, as well as many entertaining workshops.
\r\n
\r\nThe museum is located in a picturesque setting on the grounds of the “Kremlin in Izmailovo” cultural and entertainment center; it appeals to both children and adults.
