About museum

In 1995, the Museum of the People's Artists of the USSR Alexey Petrovich and Sergey Petrovich Tkachevs was opened in Bryansk, becoming one of the city's most important cultural centers. The museum's collection has continuously expanded thanks to works donated to the museum by artists. In 2008 a major restoration of the museum building was carried out, and today its collection numbers more than 800 works by the artists. The museum provides a wide range of educational and outreach services, holding master classes, conferences, round tables, presentations, concerts, children's art competitions, etc. In 2011 the International Triennial of Children's Fine Arts named after the Tkachevs was established. Thus, the museum is not only a place for exhibiting the works of the two artists but also an important center of the city's cultural life.
