In 1968 a school museum was opened, which in 1995 acquired the status of a municipal local history museum. The exhibits of the collections include ethnographic, geological, paleontological, and numismatic materials, as well as materials from the Civil War and the Great Patriotic War. The museum building is an architectural monument of wooden architecture from the late 19th century. The history of the Motyginsky District Local History Museum begins in 1964, when the idea of its creation was conceived. In 1968 an order was issued to establish the museum, and in 1975 it was granted the status of "School Museum." In 1990 the museum was granted the status of Local History Museum, and in 1992 the title "People's Museum." In 1995 the museum moved into the merchant's house at 136 Sovetskaya Street, where it is still located. The museum has a staff of 4 employees, headed by Lebedeva Irina Aleksandrovna.
