MuseUm (Puzzle Museum in St. Petersburg)
About museum
One of the city's most intelligent museums is located on Vosstaniya Square. Visitors to the museum will find an impressive collection of various mechanical (wooden, metal, wire, rope, glass and other) puzzles. The exhibition includes rare and unique pieces, including puzzles by Russian authors that have won international competitions.
Among the museum's most unusual items is Michael McGinnis's grand labyrinth "Perplexus" nearly one meter in diameter (a second identical one was gifted by the author to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom). Visitors will also be amazed by the MindLamp, brought from Silicon Valley. According to the manufacturer, the lamp changes color depending on the accentuation of the observer's thought power. You can also try to mentally control the height of a ball using a special headset. The exhibition also features Sufi rings, secret vessels, knots, cubes, puzzles based on Penrose tilings, slingshots by Kirill Grebnev, Symmetrixes by Vladimir Krasnoukhov and many other interesting and brain-teasing objects. Many of the puzzles can be solved right in the museum and purchased.
