M.D. Skobelev Memorial Complex

The name of Mikhail Dmitrievich Skobelev, a national hero and a representative of the proud Russian dynasty of combat officers, is associated with the Ryazan land. He was a loyal son of Russia, a recipient of many domestic and foreign orders, and an outstanding military commander. He did much for the glory and might of the Motherland, and his name became a legend. He died on June 25, 1882 in Moscow and was buried in the Ryazan region, at the Skobelev family estate. In 2003 a Memorial Complex was opened on this site, which includes the Spasskaya Church, a bronze bust and a museum. The museum tells the history of the Skobelev estate and the lives of three generations of Skobelev generals. Cultural and educational work with youth for patriotic education is also carried out here.
