V. A. Degtyarev Memorial House-Museum
About museum
On one of Kovrov's central streets stands a small cozy blue wooden house built at the end of the 19th century. From 1924, Vasily Alekseevich Degtyarev lived here — a well-known Russian designer of small automatic weapons, a Hero of Socialist Labour and a State Prize laureate. On January 6, 1978, a house-museum was opened in this house. It showcases the design and professional work of V. A. Degtyarev, V. G. Fedorov and other notable weapons designers. Exhibitions are arranged in the two living rooms, while the remaining rooms make up the memorial complex. The parlor, the study and the workshop have been restored; photographs and portraits of relatives hang on the walls, and books and magazines lie on the table. In the house-museum one can feel the atmosphere of the past and sense the spirit of the times and the achievements of Russian engineers.
