About museum
In the center of the city of Lyubertsy, on the site of a former Old Believers' prayer house, is the Lyubertsy Local History Museum, opened to visitors on November 5, 1976. The museum was founded by Mikhail Petrovich Izmetyev, an honorary citizen of the city and a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. The museum displays a variety of exhibits, including paintings, graphics, photographs, decorative and applied arts objects, furniture, ethnographic materials, and porcelain. The museum's collection contains more than 30,000 items. Of particular interest is the 19th-century painting collection in the museum's gallery, which includes works by Alexei Savrasov, Vladimir Makovsky, Ivan Aivazovsky, and Yuly Klever. The museum successfully carries out joint projects with the TV channel "Podmoskovye" and organizes month-long thematic and solo exhibitions of artists from the creative association "Vozrozhdenie".
