Lomakov Museum of Vintage Cars and Motorcycles
About museum
Since 1959 the Muscovites Lomakov have been restoring and assembling a unique collection of cars and motorcycles, which now numbers more than 130 items and continues to grow as many people donate their cars and motorcycles to the museum. In 1987 Dmitry Alexandrovich Lomakov founded the first museum of antique cars and motorcycles in Russia, and also the first non-state museum in the country since 1917. The museum's exhibition features more than 60 cars and motorcycles, some of which are unique in the world and some unique in Russia. The collection includes trophies captured by the Soviet people such as the Horch 853 (1935), which once belonged to the commander of Hitler's air force Marshal Hermann Göring and later to Marshal Rokossovsky and General Samokhin; the Mercedes‑Benz 540 K (1935), which belonged to Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany; the Mercedes‑Benz 540 SKL (1935) given by Hitler to Eva Braun and later taken as a trophy by General Danchenko; a BMW 303 (1933) that is not even in the manufacturer's own museum; and other trophies. There are also other vintage cars and motorcycles: the world's only Peugeot motorcycle (1914); a Citroën 7CV (1935) that won the Grand Prix in the Paris–Moscow rally and was presented by the factory to Molotov; a tsar's car; the only green ZIS‑110 (1949) still in factory paint, gifted by Joseph Stalin to the Patriarch of All Russia Alexy I 'For the contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church to the defeat of the German‑Fascist invaders'; the only ZIS‑6 cargo truck in the world (1933); the very rare Leningrad‑8 motorcycle (1938); an IZH‑8 (1938) in factory paint; the first Soviet production motorcycle L‑300 'Krasny Oktyabr' (Red October) (1933) in original factory paint; a GAZ‑13 Chaika (1977) presented by CPSU General Secretary Leonid Brezhnev to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Pimen; and more. Vehicles from the collection have appeared in more than 100 films, including Variant Omega; We Are from Jazz!; Operation Cooperation; Velvet Season; American Grandpa; In the Inner Circle; Hello! I'm Your Aunt!; Park of the Soviet Period; The Little Golden Calf; In the First Circle; Happy Together; Operation Y; Kidnapping, Caucasian Style; Lily of the Valley (Silver Lily) and others.
