Literary and Memorial Museum 'House of the Teacher'
About museum
Literary and Memorial Museum 'House of the Teacher' is one of the structural divisions of the Chistopol State Museum-Reserve. During the Great Patriotic War, a branch of the Union of Writers operated here under the leadership of K. Fedin. Writers such as B. Pasternak, N. Aseev, M. Isakovsky, L. Leonov, A. Fadeev, V. Grossman, E. Dolmatovsky, A. Tvardovsky, A. Surkov, I. Selvinsky, M. Petrovykh, Z. Aleksandrova and others visited here; they lived in Chistopol during the evacuation or came to visit relatives serving at the front. Currently, the House of the Teacher presents the exhibition 'Chistopol Became a Haven for the Muses', dedicated to the writers' time in evacuation. The exposition features books, photographs of the writers from that period, and household items from the wartime era. Part of the exhibition is devoted to Leonid Leonov; his working study has been recreated with memorial items: an inkwell, a pen, a calling card, and letters.
