About museum
Krasnoturansky Historical and Ethnographic Museum is a municipal cultural institution of Krasnoturansky District of Krasnoyarsk Krai. It was founded in 1981 and shortly thereafter, on April 16, 1982, its official opening took place. The museum includes an archive and a library and is located in a historic building constructed in 1943. Tamara Andreevna Zyryanova was appointed director of the museum and devoted 23 years of her life to it. The museum's original site was the house of the former political exile I. I. Romansky, where V. I. Lenin stayed in 1900. In 1991 the museum moved to the building of the former office of the district consumer cooperative. The museum's collection comprises 17,000 items, including 11,000 items of the main collection, as well as an ethnographic collection, documents and photographs, and items of decorative and applied arts. Each year the museum welcomes about 4,000 visitors.
