About museum
The museum was opened on February 23, 1989. As of January 1, 2021, it comprised 12,406 storage units: the main collection — 9,722 items and the scientific-and-auxiliary collection — 2,684 items. The main collection includes objects of archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, painting, sculpture, decorative and applied arts, rare books, documents, items of the natural science collection, and objects related to the history of technology. The museum houses permanent exhibitions, an exhibition hall for temporary shows, and a lecture hall. Since 2004, there has been an open-air exhibition on the museum grounds called "Selkup House", which consists of six full-scale structures, including poy mot, lokra poy mot, kor, shokyr, the frame of a chum, and a wooden sculpture.
