Local History Museum of the Pestrechinsky Municipal District
About museum
In 1986, the Museum of Military and Labor Glory of the Pestrechinsky District was founded in the village of Pestretsy. The teacher Petr Yakovlevich Kozlov, a local historian and the creator of the school museum in Pestretsy in the 1960s, became its founder. He collected and compiled most of the photographs and documents on the history of the area. After P.Ya. Kozlov's death in the 1980s, the school museum practically ceased to exist, and all surviving items were transferred to the RKSS library. A building was allocated for the museum and the collection of exhibits began. On May 8, 1988, the museum was opened with a large number of exhibits representing household items, numismatics and photographs. At present the museum operates as a district local history museum, offering visitors a variety of events, including museum-educational activities, donation days, and historical and themed quests.
