\r\nThe history of the Abakan Art Gallery began in 1976, when the director of the children's art school of the city of Abakan, Fedor Yefimovich Pronskikh, decided to create an art gallery at the school. He wrote a letter to Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the RSFSR B. Ya. Ryauzov, asking for advice on how best to organize this new undertaking for the school. Krasnoyarsk artists B. Ya. Ryauzov, T. V. Ryannel, and V. I. Meshkov were the first to respond and sent their works, which formed the beginnings of the gallery's collections. Gradually, works by artists from Khakassia entered the gallery's holdings: V. K. Ananyina, A. Z. Asochakova, V. M. Agalakova, V. A. Valkova, G. V. Nikonenko, V. M. Novoselov, G. A. Serebryakov and others.
