About museum
Since then the gallery has been continuously growing and developing, presenting works by artists from various cities and regions of Russia to its visitors. The Abakan Art Gallery invites everyone to visit and gain an unforgettable impression!
The history of the Abakan Art Gallery began in 1976, when the director of the children's art school of the city of Abakan, Fedor Yefimovich Pronskikh, decided to create an art gallery at the school. He wrote a letter to the corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts, People's Artist of the RSFSR B. Ya. Ryauzov, asking for advice on how best to organize this new undertaking for the school. The artists from Krasnoyarsk B. Ya. Ryauzov, T. V. Ryannel, and V. I. Meshkov were the first to respond and sent their works, which laid the foundation for the future gallery's collections. Gradually, works by artists from Khakassia were added to the gallery's collections: V. K. Ananyina, A. Z. Asochakova, V. M. Agalakova, V. A. Valkova, G. V. Nikonenko, V. M. Novoselova, G. A. Serebryakova and others.
