Urengoy Local History Museum
About museum
On January 1, 2006 the "Museum of Geologists-Discoverers of the settlement of Urengoy" was founded. On May 8 of the same year the building welcomed its first visitors on the eve of the 61st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In 2011 the museum was renamed the "Urengoy Local History Museum", and in 2015 it received the status of a municipal budgetary cultural institution. The main areas of activity are acquisition, documentation, study, preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Purovsky District, including historical-cultural, ethnocultural, industrial-technological and environmental aspects of the territory's development. In October 2015 the museum moved to a new building, where three exhibition halls were opened to visitors, and the museum collection comprises more than 2,500 storage units. In 2022 the museum became a branch of the Municipal Budgetary Cultural Institution "Purovsky District Historical and Local Lore Museum". In 2006 the "Museum of Geologists-Discoverers of the settlement of Urengoy" was founded, which in 2011 was renamed the "Urengoy Local History Museum".
