About museum
Municipal cultural institution 'Igrinsky District Local History Museum' was opened on September 28, 1993. The first exhibition was devoted to the history of the forestry enterprise and the people who worked there. Today the museum is part of the MBUK IR 'Museum, Handicraft and Tourist Center'. The museum's collections contain more than 3,000 exhibits dedicated to the nature of the native region, ethnography, the history of science, culture, industry, and the military and labor glory of local residents. The museum's creative team constantly devises new activities and projects to improve public engagement and to upgrade its material and technical base. Two tour routes were created across the Igrinsky district that are popular in the republic. Since 2004 the museum has participated in the museum projects competition 'A Changing Museum in a Changing World'. Thanks to financial support from the V. Potanin Charitable Foundation and the Ministry of Culture, Press and Mass Communications of the Russian Federation, the museum implemented two grant-funded projects.
