About museum

The museum was officially opened in 2000 after being established in 1999. It currently holds 28,900 items in its main and auxiliary collections. The museum's exhibits are displayed in two halls: "Hall of Antiquities" and "Hall of Military Glory". A distinctive feature of the museum is a hoard that was found by a city resident, G. M. Pyrin, and donated to the museum. It consists of more than 200 bronze objects. The museum also displays a collection of rocks and minerals assembled by mining engineer-geologist V. V. Mitrofanov.
