Donetsk Local History Museum
About museum
In August 2005 the museum opened its doors to visitors and has since attracted the attention of thousands of Donetsk residents and guests. It houses materials illustrating the city's history, culture, historical events, and the labor and sporting achievements of local people. The 'Cossack Kurin' and 'Cossack Life' halls display household items of the Cossacks from the late 18th to the mid-20th century, including domestic textiles and a rare 19th-century weaving loom. The 'Military Glory' hall presents materials and items donated to the city by the city military commissariat and the search detachment 'Peresvet', while the 'Space Hall' contains items that have been to the ISS and were donated by Hero of Russia Yu. V. Usachev. The 'Miners' Glory' hall presents the history of the city's coal industry development, and the hall on the history of Donetsk industry displays materials and objects demonstrating the heyday and production of local labor collectives.
