About museum

In 1919, a museum was founded on the basis of the collection of archaeological and natural science items of merchant Sveshnikov, which quickly gained popularity among the townspeople. It became the city's educational and scientific center. But the Great Patriotic War brought incalculable destruction to ancient Gdov, and the museum too was consumed by the fires of war.
