Gonodin Local History Museum
About museum
In 2003 the Gonodin Local History Museum was opened, presenting more than 1,000 exhibits. It offers visitors the opportunity to familiarize themselves with a unique collection of ethnographic items. You can see pileless (flatweave) carpets, embroidered scarves, clothing, traditional bags, pottery and carved wooden products, as well as chased copper tableware. The museum also displays agricultural implements and a collection of rare minerals. Visitors can also view the manuscripts of the museum's founder, honored teacher of Dagestan, local historian and war veteran Gimbat Yusupov, which recount the history of Gonod in the Gunibsky District and its inhabitants.
