Bobrov Local History Museum
About museum
The Bobrov Local History Museum is located in the city center in the former shop of merchant Miroshnikov. It opened in 1991, though some of its exhibits came from an earlier museum that was closed in the 1970s. The displays cover events from the initial settlement of the Bobrov region in the 17th century to the present day. In the nature hall visitors can see dioramas of the Bityug River, the Khrenovsky pine forest and chalk slopes featuring local flora and fauna. The museum also exhibits stuffed animals and birds, and its library contains scholarly publications about the natural history of the Bobrov district. Of particular interest is the ethnography hall with peasant clothing from the 18th century. There you can learn how weddings were organized, how the newlyweds were sent off, and the symbolic meanings of the embroidered patterns.
