N. A. Sysoev Art Gallery
About museum
On May 7, 1987 an art gallery was opened in the settlement of Lev Tolstoy; the initiative came from the head of the settlement E. Chernyshyov, with the support of the Moscow artist couple N. Sysoev and N. Skorubskaya. For 15 years N. Sysoev was engaged in building the art collections and organized a variety of exhibitions, ranging from amateur craftsmen and children's drawings to works by recognized artists such as N. Rusheva. In addition, N. Sysoev founded the art studio 'Palette'. Since 1997 the gallery has borne the name of Nikolai Sysoev. The art collection includes works by N. Sysoev and N. Skorubskaya, as well as works by other well-known Russian artists of the second half of the 20th century, such as Yu. Kugach, V. Tsigal, S. and A. Tkachev, N. Solomin, S. Tutunov, A. Wagner, and V. Dvoryanchikov.
